Introduction
FAIR-IMPACT is a Horizon Europe-funded project focused on supporting the implementation of FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) principles in research data management, aiming to guide researchers, policy makers, and others towards a FAIR data management cycle.
FAIR-IMPACT identifies practices, policies, tools and technical specifications to guide researchers, repository managers, research performing organisations, policy makers and citizen scientists towards a FAIR data management cycle. The focus will be on persistent identifiers (PIDs), metadata, ontologies, metrics, certification and interoperability, starting with real-life use cases on social sciences and humanities, the photon and neutron sciences, life sciences and agri-food and environmental sciences.
Webinars:
The “Meet the SoftWare Hash Identifier: Do one thing and do it well” webinar will take place on Tuesday April 29th, from 14:00-16:00 CEST. Software identification is essential to ensure long-term traceability of scholarly outputs but as often, when it comes to software, things are not as easy as they seem. Research software identification looks like an investigation and calls for tailored solutions. The SoftWare Hash Identifier (SWHID), which is under an ISO standardisation process, provides actionable solutions to the end-users as well as to the repositories managers, metadata curators, etc. This workshop is open to all but intended for those working as data/research stewards, research software engineers, data repositories, and data service providers. Basic knowledge of persistent identifiers is desired.
Registration for the workshop is free but mandatory

The “FAIR Implementation Workshop - Enhancing FAIR and Trustworthy Data Repositories: Insights from the Repositories in the Western Balkan Region” will take place on 8th May at 10.00-11.05 CEST. This workshop presents the key findings from the FAIR Implementation Support Action conducted at repositories in the Western Balkans: The Data Archive for Social Sciences in Bosnia and Herzegovina (DASS-BiH) and four different universities at the University of Belgrade from Serbia. Both institutions applied FAIR-IMPACT guidelines to enhance repository transparency, metadata exposure, and stakeholder trust, while facing similar regional challenges.Participants will gain practical knowledge on improving FAIR compliance and repository interoperability in diverse research fields.
